Speedflex introduces ‘Low-Intensity’ workouts to the Blade - designed specifically for rehabilitation and exercise referral

18 Dec 2025
Low-Intensity series of workouts for the Blade / Speedflex

Speedflex has launched a brand new Low-Intensity series of workouts for the iconic Blade, expanding its offering to make functional, resistance-based training more accessible than ever.

The new series has been designed with joint health, mobility and controlled movement in mind, providing a safe, supportive option for older adults, beginners, anyone returning from injury,  managing long-term conditions or on an exercise referral programme. Built around Speedflex’s signature low-impact technology, the programme harnesses the Blade’s innovative piston system, which uses adaptive resistance to match your effort in real time. Move the free-motion bar slowly for light, easy control or increase your speed and force and the resistance will increase to match. This allows users to train through a full range of motion at a gentler pace without placing stress on their joints, making it ideal for people who want to stay active while maintaining a low risk of strain or injury. As users progress, getting fitter and stronger, the Blade automatically increases resistance.

With adjustable resistance levels on both the upward and downward phases of each movement, users can tailor the session completely to their needs, giving them the support they require when mobility is limited and the challenge they want as their strength and confidence grows. The programme also includes movements that encourage improved balance and coordination, with the Blade’s freemotion bar available as a stability aid so that users can confidently explore new ranges of motion while feeling safe and in control.

One of the standout features of the new programme is the ability to perform single-arm or single-leg exercises that allows for targeted strengthening on one side of the body, which can be an incredibly important part of the recovery process from either injury or surgery. This makes Speedflex a valuable addition to both clinical and community gyms, providing support to any members who need gentle progression without compromising on safety or control - enabling PTs to work with their clients like never before.

Speedflex’s mission has always been to make high-quality training accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ability or fitness level. The new low-intensity programme reinforces that ethos, offering operators a versatile tool to engage members who may otherwise feel excluded from traditional gym environments and standard gym equipment.

Matt Bolam, Head of Fitness UK and Ireland at Speedflex says, “We’re incredibly proud to have launched our new low-intensity programme. It’s a huge step forward in making Speedflex training even more accessible than it is now. It’s been inspiring to see how operators are already using it to reach members who might otherwise feel left behind, and we’re excited to see the impact this programme will continue to have in gyms across the UK”.

Whether it’s older adults looking to stay active, new members building confidence, or rehabilitating individuals easing back into training, the low-intensity Blade workouts make safe, enjoyable and effective movement more accessible than ever.

Testimonial
"Jubilee Hall Trust has been pleasantly surprised with the Speedflex units. Not because of how good they are, the ease of use and the smoothness of movement - we knew they were good! We were surprised by how many of our senior customers used it, intuitively and without prompt.
Many operators have machines which are challenging for certain demographics of our community to use, least of all our seniors! But Speedflex is different. I have seen customers approach it for the first time, play on the screen and easily start a workout, and better still, they say their joints didn't hurt either.
Whilst many operators would put two units next to a rig, we have one in an open space and another in a quiet space; more private, less on show. It’s this unit the majority of individual users go to. Yes, the studio classes are better for having one but don’t rule out having one as part of your special populations area too.
I was surprised how well Speedflex sits in both camps. HIIT Without the HURT, perfect for classes and studio but equally as good for seniors to do those all-important compound movements; Osteoporosis fighting, strength training. Riskfree."

– Jon Giles, chief executive, Jubilee Hall Trust
