Matrix and Energie Fitness have partnered to transform an iconic landmark into a premium four-floor fitness destination

Energie Fitness Tallaght has officially opened following the transformation of a landmark former nightclub and restaurant venue into a modern four-floor fitness destination featuring a full installation of Matrix Fitness equipment.

One of the largest clubs in the Energie Fitness estate, the site combines the building’s local heritage with a premium fitness experience and is quickly becoming one of the area’s standout gym destinations. The club offers dedicated cardio, strength, free weights, boxing, stretching and group exercise areas, alongside The Yard, a dedicated functional training zone.

Wellness hub

The redevelopment reflects changing lifestyle priorities, transforming a once well-known nightlife venue into a community-focused wellness hub.

Franchisee Narinder Kaushal, who is opening his fifth Energie Fitness club with the Tallaght site, says: “The building has a very strong local history and was once one of the best-known nightclub venues in the area. While the redevelopment required was significant, we immediately saw the opportunity to create something unique for the community.

“Lifestyle habits are changing. Younger generations are placing far more value on health, fitness and wellbeing and gyms are becoming modern social spaces where people train and connect. Transforming a nightclub into a gym felt like a natural evolution.”

Working with Matrix Fitness, the club developed an equipment solution designed to suit all member demographics while maximising the unique four-floor layout. The installation includes a wide range of Matrix cardio equipment, resistance machines, free weights and connected fitness technology.

Community-focused

Despite the logistical challenges involved in redeveloping a former nightclub, the installation was completed smoothly within three days, with Matrix supporting the planning, layout design and delivery.

The club has already achieved record pre-sale membership numbers, with residents drawn by both the premium gym concept and the building’s emotional connection to the local community.

Kaushal added: “Members recognised this was something very different from a standard gym. The atmosphere, layout and quality of the Matrix equipment have all evoked an incredibly positive response.”
