About us
Speedflex is the most inclusive workout in the world. Speedflex are pioneers of the revolutionary ‘HIIT Without the Hurt’ training method, meaning no joint pressure or pain during the workout, and no DOMS after it.

Speedflex offers safe and effective, high intensity but low impact HIIT training in a variety of formats. From connected fitness on the gym floor to full studio solutions, Speedflex has a concept to suit every facility. With instant personalised resistance, the workout is suitable for every user from beginners, to elite athletes to older adults. It’s HIIT training like you’ve never experienced before, it’s HIIT, Without The Hurt

Company background
Speedflex was formed in 2011 by a collective of sporting and business titans.

Speedflex Chairman Sir Graham Wylie is co-Founder of The Sage Group, where he was Managing Director for more than a decade.

CEO, Paul Ferris, was Newcastle United’s youngest ever player. After a career ending injury, he went on to hold the role of physiotherapist at the club for 13 years. Paul and Graham are joined by footballing legend Alan Shearer who is a co-owner of the business and avid user of Speedflex.

Key products and services
Speedflex machines are designed to be installed in a studio setting and used in group exercise classes.

The Speedflex Blade is the latest addition to the range, designed to be installed directly on the gym floor; featuring a touchscreen with over 100 on-demand workouts.

Speedflex works with its clients to offer the most suitable solution, in turn enabling the client to offer their customers the best possible full body, HIIT Without the Hurt workout.

“The launch of the Speedflex Blade has enabled us to diversify our offering and reach new markets. Featuring a built-in touch screen and over 100 trainer-led full body workouts accessible at the touch of a button, we’ve been able to expand across the commercial fitness market, enabling the Blade to sit directly on the gym floor. The Blade has also enabled us to enter the Hotel market, offering guests of any age or fitness ability a pain-free HIIT Without the Hurt workout, without any need of staff supervision or worries about exercising incorrectly” – James Smith, Director of Sales UK.

The versatility of the Speedflex Blade means that operators are able to use it in both a gym floor small group training environment, and as a way of providing connected fitness experiences for members to train on their own. We establish the needs and demands of that facilities demographic to help design the correct solution for that site early in the partnership process.

Alongside our products we have a team of dedicated master trainers ready to support staff with full training so that they are confident to deliver high quality Speedflex sessions to members

case study: Everyone Active - FORTIS, powered by Speedflex
Everyone Active partnered with Speedflex to create FORTIS, its own ‘HIIT Without The Hurt’ Studio. Beginning with three studios in 2019, Everyone Active have opened 9 studios to date, with plans to launch more in the south-east in 2024. Each launch event has benefitted from Speedflex’s high profile ambassadors; Alexandra Burke, Alan Shearer, Ben Shephard and Dion Dublin. "We believe there's a stereotypical type of leisure centre and think this really needs to change. Thus over the past couple of years, we’ve focused on branding, the overall feel and now we’re focusing on the offering. We believe we need to be offering a boutique experience that’s affordable. There’s also been a recent shift to a more experience-led workout - people don’t want to just come in and run on a treadmill or sit on a bike, they want an experience. So for us it’s about partnering with people that can offer that level of experience and engagement. We wanted to create something different and we feel that Speedflex equipment is unique in itself. The look and feel is completely different from anything else in the market at this moment in time, and because it’s non-DOMS exercise, customers won’t feel any muscle soreness the next day, despite having done an intense 30-minute workout. We worked to develop our exclusive Fortis brand, including the look, feel, branding, music and everything that sits behind it. The end result has been a totally collaborative effort and enables us to compete on a product-level with the private sector." Duncan Jefford, Regional Director, Everyone Active
case study: Village Gyms and Hotels
Village Gyms & Hotels implemented Speedflex in their new concept: Blade Blast, a 20-minute full-body HIIT workout centering around the Speedflex Blade, along with auxiliary stations/exercises. Blades are on the gym floor and available to use by all members for on-demand workouts, or as part of scheduled Blade Blast group exercises workouts. 21 Village sites have now integrated Speedflex Blade into their fitness offering. "Speedflex Blade has been a brilliant addition to our gym-floor HIIT circuit, helping us to further elevate member experience with this unique equipment. Members of all fitness levels can use the Blade and immediately workout at the right level for them, without needing to adjust any settings, since the machine responds to the force of the user. The addition of on-demand workout content via a built-in touchscreen, means the equipment is popular outside of timetabled sessions too." Chris Southall, Leisure Director, Village Gyms and Hotels
case study: Freedom Leisure
"The Speedflex Blade is a fantastic offering for our members, enabling them to enjoy on-demand high intensity workouts with low impact. We have been talking to Speedflex for a few months now to integrate this wonderful new and innovative product onto our gym floor. The initial interest at our Stafford facility where the first Blades have been delivered has been overwhelming, both from instructors and customers, feedback has been that it gives a really great fun and interactive workout with perfect instructor led guidance on screen making it simple to follow. We’re rolling out the Blade to a number of sites across England and Wales over the coming months to develop our offering across the group” - Mark Learnihan, Business Development Director, Freedom Leisure

“Fortis Powered by Speedflex is one of our most popular classes and the Championships have already become a much-anticipated annual highlight.
Members of all ages and fitness levels take part and thanks to the unique Speedflex concept it’s a real level playing field, rewarding effort over ability.
We’re proud to have such an inclusive fitness competition which represents our whole member demographic and fitness ethos.”
– Matt Hague, regional fitness business manager, Everyone Active
"We’re constantly striving to enhance our guests' experience and partnering with Speedflex allows us to provide the very latest in connected fitness for our guests and members.
The workout is both safe and inclusive which makes it the perfect fit for our diverse range of customers. Our guests can now enjoy a revolutionary fitness experience during their stay, reaffirming our commitment to offering the best amenities and services at The QHotels Collection."
– Keith Pickard, group director of golf, health club and spa, The QHotels Collection
"Jubilee Hall Trust has been pleasantly surprised with the Speedflex units. Not because of how good they are, the ease of use and the smoothness of movement - we knew they were good! We were surprised by how many of our senior customers used it, intuitively and without prompt.
Many operators have machines which are challenging for certain demographics of our community to use, least of all our seniors! But Speedflex is different. I have seen customers approach it for the first time, play on the screen and easily start a workout, and better still, they say their joints didn't hurt either.
Whilst many operators would put two units next to a rig, we have one in an open space and another in a quiet space; more private, less on show. It’s this unit the majority of individual users go to. Yes, the studio classes are better for having one but don’t rule out having one as part of your special populations area too.
I was surprised how well Speedflex sits in both camps. HIIT Without the HURT, perfect for classes and studio but equally as good for seniors to do those all-important compound movements; Osteoporosis fighting, strength training. Riskfree."
