Speedflex brings HIIT Without the Hurt training to Plymouth Active

12 Jun 2024
/ Speedflex (UK
Speedflex is continuing its installation flurry with a fit-out at Plymouth Active Life Centre, a world-class swimming and diving facility and fitness centre.

The Speedflex Blade has been installed into the functional space on the gym floor and will be used for a range of programmed and non-programmed activities, plus gym floor workshops.

Plymouth Active Life Centre has a wide range of members from juniors to seniors, to potential Olympic Divers and have been looking to bring innovative training tools to their facilities. Featuring over 100 on-demand workouts through the built-in screen, the Blade is the most inclusive piece of gym equipment, suitable for members of any fitness ability, aged 18-80+.

Plymouth Active Leisure chief operating officer, Rhys Jones, is excited to offer members the most inclusive form of HIIT training:

“I see there being a programme and place for all of our users to make the most of the Blade, so it will be for us and our partnership with Speedflex to showcase and educate members on all of the benefits.

“We’re also launching our innovative Active Health programme in Plymouth shortly, and the Blade will be our direct product and pathway for new users being referred via various collaborations with partners in health roles. The Speedflex Blade will be able to seamlessly fit into that demographic too, HIIT Without The Hurt will be a great addition to our offer and we plan to roll more out in the future!”

Speedflex sales director, James Smith: “We’re excited to partner with Plymouth Active and bring the Blade to their diverse range of members. As the most inclusive form of fitness, the Blade is perfect for everyone from athletes to deconditioned individuals and beginners.

“It’s also ideal supplementary training for divers as it causes no joint pressure or pain, and no DOMS the following day. We look forward to working with Plymouth Active to help them maximise the effectiveness of the Blade with their members.”

Key customers
Speedflex primarily caters to the gym and leisure centre industry, with a recent expansion into the hotel market, and the home market.

The introduction of the Speedflex Blade has enabled gyms and operators place Speedflex on the gym floor, allowing members to workout on-demand.
Plans for the next 12 months
In 2024 Speedflex aims to continue expanding into gyms, leisure centres, hotels and beyond. Speedflex will be hosting multiple events for key industry professionals and clients, helping to expand client base and reach bigger markets.

Speedflex will also be attending a host of Industry events, with FIBO, Elevate and W3Fit already planned, but more to be added over the year. 2024 will also see the return of the FORTIS Championships for its third year in a row, which is hosted by Everyone Active across the country.

The workout is both safe and inclusive which makes it the perfect fit for our diverse range of customers. Our guests can now enjoy a revolutionary fitness experience during their stay, reaffirming our commitment to offering the best amenities and services at The QHotels Collection."

– Keith Pickard, group director of golf, health club and spa, The QHotels Collection
Testimonial
"Jubilee Hall Trust has been pleasantly surprised with the Speedflex units. Not because of how good they are, the ease of use and the smoothness of movement - we knew they were good! We were surprised by how many of our senior customers used it, intuitively and without prompt.
Many operators have machines which are challenging for certain demographics of our community to use, least of all our seniors! But Speedflex is different. I have seen customers approach it for the first time, play on the screen and easily start a workout, and better still, they say their joints didn't hurt either.
Whilst many operators would put two units next to a rig, we have one in an open space and another in a quiet space; more private, less on show. It’s this unit the majority of individual users go to. Yes, the studio classes are better for having one but don’t rule out having one as part of your special populations area too.
I was surprised how well Speedflex sits in both camps. HIIT Without the HURT, perfect for classes and studio but equally as good for seniors to do those all-important compound movements; Osteoporosis fighting, strength training. Riskfree."

– Jon Giles, chief executive, Jubilee Hall Trust
