PRESS RELEASE
Myzone recognised by FITC for shaping the future of connected fitness technology
07 May 2026
Myzone recognised by FITC / Myzone
Myzone has been named one of the fitness industry’s top technology innovators at FIBO 2026, earning recognition from the Fitness Industry Technology Council (FITC) for its leadership in connected wearables and rapid evolution into a software-driven ecosystem.
Selected from dozens of exhibitors, Myzone was recognised for combining innovation with real-world operator impact and a clear commitment to responsible technology adoption, all key criteria set by FITC and its panel of industry experts. The leading independent industry body is dedicated to accelerating the convergence of fitness, technology and healthcare globally.
The award follows a year of accelerated innovation for Myzone. The brand continues to pioneer MoTech (motivation technology), encouraging a shift from performance tracking to the application of behaviour science to encourage exercise adherence. To support this shift and improve accessibility into its ecosystem, the brand has launched Switch 2.0, an upgrade to the original Switch - its most versatile wearable; and is expanding its effort-based model (MEPs) beyond cardio into strength training. This feature will recognise and reward strength-based training, allowing members to earn effort points during strength-based workouts, bringing Myzone’s gamified engagement model to more types of exercise. Myzone is also integrating with Garmin, allowing Garmin smartwatch users to connect their workouts directly to the Myzone ecosystem via Myzone Go.
“Myzone is not just launching products, it’s helping to shape the operating standards of connected wearables, one of the most consequential areas for operators over the next five years,” said Bryan K. O’Rourke, president of FITC. “They are delivering innovation grounded in science, operator economics and real outcomes for members. That is precisely the kind of responsible, evidence-based innovation FITC exists to champion.”
The recognition reinforces Myzone’s position at the forefront of a strategically critical space, as operators place increasing priority on connected, interoperable technologies that enhance engagement and improve retention.
“We’re honoured to achieve this recognition from FITC. These innovations represent the next step in expanding the Myzone ecosystem,” said Jay Worthy, CEO of Myzone. “We’re recognising more types of effort, connecting with more wearable technology and making our platform accessible to more people than ever before.”

“Myzone’s not just a flashy screen. It’s motivation technology, community and a social platform working together to keep people engaged long term.
“There is clear correlation between high Myzone engagement and strong coaching participation. It also creates stronger retention because members feel part of a community and have that extra layer of accountability that keeps them coming back.”
– Donald DesPierre III, fitness manager, Anytime Fitness Clubs

“We decided that we’d give every member a Myzone belt on joining and that it was an integral part of our ‘Thrive Welcome Process’. We did this because it was 100% in-line with our vision of helping more people be active and feel good.
“At Thrive, we use Myzone during every session to help effectively coach our members to get the most out of the session. That doesn’t mean always pushing, but rather educating effort levels and helping with recovery. It helps members understand how to effectively train for different types of sessions from personal training to our fitness classes.”

“When people understand effort, it makes all the difference. When you say eight out of 10 to 30 people, every individual’s effort is different. When you learn about your own effort, you start to feel it in your body.
“That’s why I love using Myzone. We're also seeing our David Lloyd gym members using Myzone in the Pilates Reformer studio, too. Reformer is harder than it looks, and people are starting to see the benefits of a heart rate monitor within a wide variety of fitness training genres.
“We’ll all never go without it. I’ve got to get my MEPs!”
– Jodie Powell, group exercise supervisor, David Lloyd Raynes Park
