Why Speedflex is the perfect workout for the menopause

25 Sep 2025
Blade machine / Speedflex
With its unique, personalised resistance technology, Speedflex is proving to be an invaluable tool for women navigating the challenges of the menopause when it comes to exercise, with the high intensity of HIIT workouts offering significant health benefits for menopausal women.

These benefits include the improvement of cardiovascular health, the prevention of loss of muscle power that often occurs with age and hormonal changes associated with menopause, a reduction in stress, an increase in resting metabolic rates to assist with weight management, as well as the maintenance and improvement of bone density which is crucial for preventing osteoporosis during menopause.

Speedflex effectively enables coaches to provide safe, effective and adaptable workouts that deliver measurable results where traditional training may fall short.

Fitness manager and coach at Village Dudley, Bethany Bray, recently shared insights from one of her peri-menopausal clients who experienced significant benefits after just eight weeks of Speedflex training. Speedflex training has not only improved the way in which her client’s body feels – but her attitude towards the gym as well.

Like many women in midlife, this client was finding her regular strength training sessions increasingly difficult to progress. Despite consistent use of dumbbells, she had reached a plateau, unable to improve her leg strength or overall capacity.

Recovery was also a challenge, with flare-ups that limited consistency and left her feeling frustrated and sore.

Bethany explained, “Speedflex allows clients to train intensely but safely. For women experiencing the hormonal fluctuations of the menopause, that balance between effective strength work and recovery is vital. It means they can keep training regularly, which is often the missing piece of the puzzle.”

With the technology of Speedflex workouts offering minimised DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness), Beth decided to try out the Speedflex as part of her client’s programme. As a result, Beth’s client instantly felt like she had found an interactive workout that has helped her to feel fulfilled in the gym both when her trainer is and isn’t present. She says, “I feel better about myself,” and has in fact become so confident in her routine that she even brings other women to the gym to try out the wonderful technology for themselves, and she frequently enjoys performing the clean and press on the Speedflex.

"Jubilee Hall Trust has been pleasantly surprised with the Speedflex units. Not because of how good they are, the ease of use and the smoothness of movement - we knew they were good! We were surprised by how many of our senior customers used it, intuitively and without prompt.
Many operators have machines which are challenging for certain demographics of our community to use, least of all our seniors! But Speedflex is different. I have seen customers approach it for the first time, play on the screen and easily start a workout, and better still, they say their joints didn't hurt either.
Whilst many operators would put two units next to a rig, we have one in an open space and another in a quiet space; more private, less on show. It’s this unit the majority of individual users go to. Yes, the studio classes are better for having one but don’t rule out having one as part of your special populations area too.
I was surprised how well Speedflex sits in both camps. HIIT Without the HURT, perfect for classes and studio but equally as good for seniors to do those all-important compound movements; Osteoporosis fighting, strength training. Riskfree."

– Jon Giles, chief executive, Jubilee Hall Trust
