Everyone Active's portfolio has expanded with the addition of 15 facilities, marking a period of sustained growth for the company. The award-winning leisure operator has successfully won ten-year contracts with Stevenage Borough Council and Central Bedfordshire Council.
The leisure operator will start the two new partnerships on Saturday 1 April 2023, which includes an expansion in the cultural facilities space, with the management of the Gordon Craig Theatre in Stevenage, The Grove Theatre in Dunstable and The Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre.
As of 1 April 2023, Everyone Active will manage more than 220 leisure and cultural facilities across the country on behalf of more than 65 local authorities.
The Active Communities Leisure Management contract with Stevenage Borough Council, will see Everyone Active manage seven facilities; Stevenage Swimming Centre, Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre, Gordon Craig Theatre, Fairlands Valley Aqua Park, Southfield Showground, Ridlins Athletics Stadium and Stevenage Golf Conference Centre.
Everyone Active aims to support the Council's vision for leisure across Stevenage, by providing attractive facilities available to all age groups in the town’s community and contribute to the health and wellbeing objectives of the council.
This will coincide with Everyone Active’s new 10-year agreement with Central Bedfordshire Council, as leisure management operator responsible for managing its leisure and cultural facilities.
As part of this contract, Everyone Active will be running the Council's eight facilities; Saxon Pool and Leisure Centre, The Dunstable Centre, Flitwick Leisure Centre, Houghton Regis Leisure Centre, Tiddenfoot Leisure Centre, Sandy Sports Centre, The Grove Theatre in Dunstable and The Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre.
Everyone Active will support the council and its continued investment in new leisure provision. The partnership will focus on delivering exciting new leisure centres in Houghton Regis and Leighton Linslade, together with the expansion of facilities at the Jenkins Pavilion in Sandy.
Everyone Active’s 35 years’ experience of managing leisure, culture and arts facilities across the country will be valuable to support both of their local authority partners’ ambitions for leisure.
Everyone Active’s managing director, David Bibby, said: “We are delighted to be working with new partners across the country, as we believe leisure and cultural facilities are pivotal in providing a wide range of services to the community.
“Our ambition is to provide community hubs for the people of Stevenage and Central Bedfordshire through our leisure and arts centres. To achieve this, we will work closely with our partners and the community to engage people from all backgrounds and meet the unique needs of each area.
“The new contracts include significant investments, amplifying the drive and ambition of our partners to prioritise the health and wellbeing of the local community. I am delighted that we have been chosen to support each of the council’s exciting visions.”
Everyone Active will also extend its long-standing partnership with Bristol City Council, with a new 15-year agreement and continued management of Horfield Leisure Centre, Bristol South Swimming Pool, Henbury Leisure Centre, Easton Leisure Centre and St Pauls Community Sports Academy.
More than £8m of investment has been announced for Bristol’s major leisure and sporting facilities. The investment from the council is in addition to Everyone Active utilising £4.7m of its own funds over the course of the contract.
