case study: IRISH RUGBY - IRFU
It was a great privilege for BLK BOX to be awarded the contract to supply the new IRFU’s High-Performance Training Facility in Abbotstown. Working as part of a wider project, €6 million was invested in the new state-of-the-art facility, which continues to play an important part in the development and preparation of elite rugby players on both the Irish Rugby national team and provincial teams.
PROJECT
We worked with the IRFU team to ultimately create an elite training space like no other in the country and to provide a solution that would involve multiple workstations and free up floor space.
The Samson Combo Rack was designed in collaboration with the Irish Rugby team, in which 6 were installed. This versatile rack offers the best of our Samson Full and Half Racks, whilst saving valuable floor space by sharing the weight plate storage. A key consideration for the IRFU team in the design of this environment was the use of multi-density surfaces and importance of performing skills training within a pitch environment. This manifested perfectly within the facility with BLK BOX providing a seamless transition from Apex Flooring, to Mondo Running track, through to the breath-taking half-pitch and dome.
OUTCOME
This was an extremely intricate facility that took almost two years of collaboration to create a multi-use, flexible training environment that could incorporate; Strength & Conditioning, Performance Testing, Rehabilitation and Analysis.
The IRFU High-Performance Training Centre is rightfully considered one of the best High-Performance facilities in Europe. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the finished project become more than you had thought possible.
More recently, in preparation for the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France, our team supplied the Irish Rugby team with equipment upgrades so they could train to their fullest potential with the highest quality equipment.

CORE, a luxury wellness destination, entrusted BLK BOX with their second facility in Riyadh, building upon our successful collaboration in Jeddah since 2019. CORE's unwavering commitment to best-in-class holistic wellness perfectly aligns with our mission to create world-class training environments.

Our role in this project was comprehensive. We provided multi-density seamless flooring solutions tailored to CORE's diverse clientele and their wide range of training and class offerings.
Additionally, we expertly designed and installed custom turf and track, creating an iconic outdoor boot camp area that seamlessly bridges indoor and outdoor fitness experiences.
At the heart of CORE's training zones, we meticulously crafted bespoke functional training rigs to suit both indoor and outdoor environments. These rigs were purposefully designed to accommodate the full spectrum of fitness activities, ensuring CORE's ability to offer innovative and adaptable workouts to their members for years to come.

Their reputation for sporting excellence, which spans performance, facilities, expertise and working partnerships, confirms their position as the number one university for sport.
PROJECT
The vision for the new Powerbase gym was to ensure they had a complete strength and conditioning environment to complement the existing world-class training environment. Powerbase is an all-inclusive training environment, catering for able-bodied sports and para sports.
In addition, it will be used for athlete rehabilitation, implementing new and sector-leading practices, conducting applied sports research, and educating the next generation of S&C experts.
