press release: BLK BOX
Inside the build: David Grey Rehab
Successful rehabilitation requires more than treatment alone. It requires the right environment to rebuild strength, restore movement and help people return to everyday life, training and sport with confidence.
BLK BOX partnered with David Grey Rehab to design and install a bespoke physiotherapy and rehabilitation gym that bridges the gap between clinical treatment and performance. Every piece of equipment was carefully selected to support progressive rehabilitation, allowing physiotherapists to safely load movement patterns, rebuild strength and guide clients through every stage of recovery.
Whether recovering from a sports injury, surgery or persistent pain, the facility provides a space where evidence-based rehabilitation and strength training work together.
The brief
David Grey Rehab has built an international reputation for delivering evidence-based physiotherapy and rehabilitation that addresses the root cause of pain and injury rather than simply treating symptoms. Working with everyone from elite athletes to members of the general population, the team combines physiotherapy, strength training and movement education to help clients recover stronger and reduce the risk of future injury.
The goal was to create a dedicated rehabilitation gym that integrates seamlessly with the clinical treatment process. The space needed to support every stage of recovery, from early movement retraining and controlled strength exercises through to advanced athletic preparation and return-to-sport training.
Flexibility was essential, enabling physiotherapists to tailor rehabilitation programmes to the needs of each individual.
Equipment designed for rehabilitation
The completed facility combines versatile strength equipment with specialist rehabilitation equipment, giving clinicians the tools to safely progress clients throughout every phase of recovery.
The facility features a custom 3 Series Compact Rack with an integrated Smith Machine, Spotting Arms and Landmine Attachment. The versatile setup enables physiotherapists to introduce supported movements, progressive resistance and functional strength exercises while tailoring training to each client's stage of rehabilitation.
A Custom Inlaid Wooden Weightlifting Platform, HD Bumper Plates, Hex Bar and Hex Dumbbells provide the foundation for progressive strength training, helping clients rebuild muscle, improve movement quality and restore confidence through compound lifting.
Dedicated lower body equipment, including the 45 Degree Leg Press and Leg Extension/Curl, allows for isolated strengthening of key muscle groups following injury or surgery while giving therapists precise control over training loads.
Supporting equipment including the Glute Ham Developer, Adjustable Bench, Power Bands, Stackable Plyo Box and Dog Sled enables therapists to develop posterior chain strength, balance, mobility, stability, power and sport-specific movement patterns as clients progress towards full recovery.
A custom Turf lane completes the facility, creating the ideal environment for sled training, gait retraining, acceleration drills, return-to-running progressions and functional rehabilitation.
Together, the equipment provides everything required for modern physiotherapy, sports rehabilitation and strength and conditioning under one roof.
The result
The completed rehabilitation gym gives David Grey Rehab a purpose-built environment where physiotherapy, strength training and performance coaching work together to deliver better outcomes.
Rather than separating treatment from exercise, the facility allows clients to move seamlessly from pain management and movement restoration to progressive strength development and return-to-sport training.
By combining intelligent facility design with premium rehabilitation and strength equipment, BLK BOX has created a space that supports clinicians in delivering personalised rehabilitation programmes while helping clients recover stronger, move better and build long-term resilience against future injury.

"For Powerbase, we aimed to collaborate with specialists in various areas, and BLK BOX emerged as the clear choice in the tender process for several reasons. Their extensive expertise in the performance market, coupled with their ability to glean insights from their work in other sectors, greatly benefits us.
While we were confident in our needs for the facility, partnering with a team that offered solutions and an agile engineering approach proved pivotal. We have tangible examples of innovation and collaboration in this facility, such as tailored accessible storage solutions designed to accommodate the mezzanine's pillars.”
