A performance environment built for Stoke City

A project that began long before the first piece of equipment hit the floor, our work with Stoke City started almost two years ahead of installation. While the new Clayton Wood facility was still taking shape, early conversations focused on what the gym needed to deliver and how it would support the club’s long term performance goals.
This was never about simply fitting out a space. It was about building an environment that could raise standards every single day.
The Vision
From the earliest stages, the brief was ambitious. Create a gym that reflects the demands of elite football and supports everything from first-team performance to long-term athlete development.
Working alongside the club as plans evolved, we helped shape a facility that balances strength, power, movement and recovery. Every decision came back to function. How players train, how they move through.
The Build
The gym floor has been designed around movement and flow. Clear zones allow multiple players to train simultaneously without compromise, whether the focus is heavy strength work, explosive power or return to play.
The install includes:
- Custom 3 Series Compact Rack with Smith Machine and ISO Pull Rack Attachments
- Custom 5 Series Benches
- Plate Loaded Seated Calf Raise

- Safety Squat Bar and Open Hex Bars

Every detail has been considered to handle the demands of a high-performance environment, day in, day out.
The Result
The finished space is sharp, focused and unmistakably Stoke.
A clean, minimal aesthetic aligns with the wider facility, creating a cohesive environment, while custom elements bring the club’s identity into the space without overwhelming it. It is a gym built to motivate, but more importantly, built to be used.
“For us, this was about getting involved early and really understanding how the space needed to perform,” said Martin Voster, business development manager, who played a key role in delivering the project. “By the time we came to install, every detail had been carefully considered.”
More than just a new facility, it gives Stoke City a performance environment that matches their ambition. One that supports players across every phase of training and recovery, and sets the standard for what happens on the pitch.

When Aberdeen Sports Village set out to upgrade its gym offering, the goal was to create a
more motivating, versatile and high-performing training environment for its diverse member
base.
When brothers Patrick and Kevin first approached BLK BOX, they had a vision and an unusual
space. Beneath a building in Embrach, Switzerland, sat an underground facility with huge
potential. What it needed was the right layout, the right equipment, and a partner who
understood functional fitness.
