PRESS RELEASE
Absolute Performance extends partnership with Team GB athlete Nekoda Smythe-Davis
19 Apr 2024
Team GB Olympian Nekoda Smythe-Davis / Absolute Performance
With an illustrious career and a tenacious spirit, Nekoda has extended her influence as a brand ambassador for Absolute Performance. This renewed collaboration comes as both parties gear up for the highly anticipated Paris 2024 Olympics this July.
Building upon the success of their previous collaboration, this renewed ambassadorship aims to deepen the integration of Nekoda's invaluable insights into elite athletic performance and further enhance Absolute Performance's products and gym design processes.
In the world of judo, where strength, agility, and mental fortitude intersect, Nekoda Smythe-Davis stands out not just as a great competitor but also as an inspiring figure for aspiring athletes.
Her remarkable career has seen her emerge as one of the sport's most esteemed Judokas. With notable achievements including Commonwealth and British championship titles in 2014, as well as representing Great Britain at the Rio Olympics in 2016, Nekoda has firmly cemented her status as a formidable force in judo. Her impressive career boasts a collection of twenty-seven elite competition medals, including a hard-fought silver at the Baku World Championships in 2018.
Siân Buchanan, owner and director at Absolute Performance, expressed her enthusiasm for the extended partnership, stating:
"We're thrilled to continue our collaboration with Nekoda. Her unwavering dedication, strength, and spirit embody the values we hold dear. As she balances the demands of motherhood with her exceptional athletic career, she epitomises resilience and serves as a remarkable role model for women and young athletes alike.”
Nekoda, who returned to competitive action in 2022 following a three-year hiatus due to a serious concussion injury and the birth of her daughter Ryia, brings a unique perspective and wealth of experience as an elite athlete, particularly in the realms of strength and conditioning, injury recovery, and rehabilitation, shaped by her journey in overcoming adversity.
Sharing her excitement about the ongoing partnership, Nekoda said:
"It's fantastic to be a part of Absolute Performance’s ambassador programme. Its expertise in gym design and its commitment to youth development in the education sector resonate deeply with me. I look forward to contributing to the development of new products and ideas, and in helping to inspire others on their journey.”
Serving as a supplier to Team GB for Paris 2024, and drawing on extensive experience working with high-performance athletes, Absolute Performance is committed to supporting Nekoda’s athletic endeavours and aspirations in 2024. Its partnership promises to not only elevate athletic performance but also inspire individuals and a new generation of athletes to pursue excellence and realise its full potential, both on and off the mat.

Plans for the next 12 months
2026 marks another transformative year for AP, defined by powerful new partnerships, products, and performance-driven projects.
Designed to inspire, our product range continues to grow and evolve as our work with KingsBox brings some of Europe’s best racks and rigs to the UK market. Our partnership with Team GB continues, as this year we collaborate on our first Winter Olympics. The Absolute Performance team couldn’t be prouder to have been chosen to design and install a strength and conditioning facility for the incredible athletes competing in the 2026 games in Milano, Cortina.
This year, we are undertaking some exciting new projects that will see us break new ground, literally! With full project design, planning, management, construction, and fit-out, we are now able to construct the building, as well as install the gym inside, ideal for those who have limited internal space.

"Delivering three elite performance gyms across Paris in a short time frame is no mean feat, but we know Absolute Performance is up to the challenge. They’ve proven their expertise, service, and quality working with Team GB at the last two Olympic Games in Rio and Tokyo, and I have every confidence that Paris 2024 will be even better”

"The AP team also took a no-nonsense approach, with no extra fluff or pressure to add pieces of equipment which we weren’t looking to include. They grasped what we were looking to do with the open, natural feel, whilst wanting the premium equipment when it came to Olympic lifting and strength and conditioning equipment".
