New blow for Chester City
Chester City Football Club (CCFC) has been dealt a new blow after HM Revenue and Customs (HRMC) succeeded in a legal bid to have the club's Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) revoked.
The club is facing a battle to secure Football Association (FA) affiliation before the new Blue Square Premier season gets underway on 9 August after the HMRC's objection to the CVA - which enabled the club to be rescued from administration - was upheld. On 26 May, Chester City Football Club 2004 Ltd acquired the club for £290,000 using the CVA, a week after it entered administration following relegation from the Football League for the second time in nine years.
The club's new owners, along with administrators Refresh Recovery, are now seeking to secure the necessary FA affiliation that will enable the club to compete in the forthcoming season and safeguard its long-term future.
