LivingWell hosts 24-hour global spinning challenge
LivingWell is hosting a 24-hour global spin challenge to raise money for Whizz-Kidz - a national children's charity that aims to give disabled children independent mobility.
On 21 September, 28 LivingWell clubs around the country are taking part in the LivingWell 24-hour Global Spinathon with the aim of raising over £10,000 by collectively cycling twice around the world - almost 81,000 miles.
To ensure the challenge is 24-hour and global, LivingWell teams in Australian clubs are starting the challenge, followed by LivingWell clubs in Brazil and Malta, with UK clubs finishing the pedalling action.
LivingWell national fitness manager Louise Hurley said both members and staff are very excited: 'Our teams have been training hard and we aim to raise as much money as possible for the two very worthwhile causes while having a laugh at the same time.'
Whizz-Kidz is a charity that provides customised wheelchairs, tricycles and other specialised mobility equipment to disabled children. Fifty per cent of the money raised by the Spinathon will also be donated to the Prostate Cancer Charity.
To help encourage donations and to make the event more fun, LivingWell says spinning teams will be dressing up and having themed spinning sessions such as 'Disco Diva', 'Energising Elvis' and 'Spinning 60s'.
