Leisure employers could risk age discrimination claims
Employers in the leisure sector could risk age discrimination claims if they do not revise their recruitment strategies before October 2006.
Regulations outlawing ageism in employment will come into force next year, which will prevent job adverts seeking young candidates and application forms requesting a date of birth.
Law firm Osborne Clarke warns that it is unlikely that the courts will be receptive to attempts to justify age discrimination on, for example, grounds that the workforce needs to reflect younger clientele. Details: www.osborneclarke.com
