Disney and Universal raise ticket prices
The two behemoths of Florida's theme park sector - Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando - have increased their ticket prices in a move that is seen as the latest indicator that the industry is coming out of recession.
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts last week increased the price of annual passes to Walt Disney World by US$10, while Magic Your Way and Park Hopper Tickets are also going up.
Meanwhile, the price of a one-day ticket to Universal Studios will go up US$3 from today (7 August), to US$82, the exact same price that Disney now charges for a one-day ticket.
The increases are a clear sign that park operators expect revenues at US parks to hold up during the all-important summer season.
Disney is scheduled to announce its third quarter results on Tuesday 10 August, with many analysts expecting the group to report slightly better than expected figures for the three months to 3 July.
