A school in the north west of England is using the latest technology and equipment to encourage its students to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Woodford Lodge High School in Winsford, Cheshire, has recently invested in a new fitness suite as part of a comprehensive refurbishment and improvement programme.
The facility has been equipped by Life Fitness and includes the company’s connectivity system VIVO.
Woodford Lodge is working on a school-wide project to combine the data from its canteen system with the information obtained from VIVO and use it to raise awareness about the importance of calorie intake and energy expenditure.
The school’s head teacher, Stephen Meeks, said: “This technology will provide us with a fantastic opportunity to educate the children about healthy eating and the benefits of exercise.
“We will be able to use factual information that is personal to the pupils taking part.
“We are committed to developing a culture of healthy living and exercise among the students and hope this will filter through to the whole family.”
The fitness suite will be used by the school and its pupils during term time, and will be accessible to the community in the evenings and at weekends.
