PRESS RELEASE

Future Fit Group signs Armed Forces Covenant

30 Oct 2024
Future Fit Group has signed the Armed Forces Covenant / Future Fit Group
Future Fit Group, a leading provider of health and fitness education, has signed the Armed Forces Covenant, pledging its commitment to support military personnel, veterans, and their families. This initiative reflects the company’s dedication to offering fair employment and training opportunities to the armed forces community across all its subsidiaries, including Future Fit Training, Future Fit for Business, Biomechanics Education, and iCareiMove.

The Covenant, created in 2000 by the Ministry of Defence, aims to ensure that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly. As signed by Future Fit Group Operations Director Tom Godwin, the Covenant demonstrates the company’s ambition and commitment to be a fair and equitable employer and training provider to all. Future Fit’s pledge also includes providing special considerations such as flexible learning arrangements to accommodate service members' deployments and relocations, as well as offering discounted course access through the Defence Discount Service.

Tom Godwin, Group Operations Director at Future Fit Group said: "We are proud to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and show our support for the important contributions made by those currently serving, veterans, reservists, and their families. By fostering an inclusive and supportive environment, we hope to further integrate the armed forces community into our workforce and culture. As an employer our colleagues from the military community bring invaluable skills and perspectives that align with our values of being Fearless, Impactful, and Trusted."

Future Fit Group recognises the valuable skills and qualities that current and former service members possess, viewing them as assets in the civilian workplace. They are also committed to increasing military representation on their training courses by 5% over the next year and believe that offering discounted qualifications will play a key role in achieving this goal.

Through signing the Covenant, Future Fit Group commits to working with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP), who are the Ministry of Defence partnered with Right Management, providing resettlement services for over 25 years and supporting Armed Forces leavers in transitioning to civilian life. In addition to Forces Families Jobs, who provide training, employment and volunteer roles for family members of currently serving UK military personnel. Future Fit will support service leavers and veterans, and Forces Families Jobs to create employment pathways that support service spouses, partners, and families The company will also appoint an Armed Forces Champion to ensure continued support for military employees.

As part of its support for service personnel transitioning to civilian careers, Future Fit has registered with the Defence Discount Service, offering discounted access to its training programmes for military personnel, veterans, and reservists. These discounts apply to a range of qualifications in the health and fitness industry, providing service members with the skills needed to start or further their careers.

In addition, Future Fit has committed to making reasonable adjustments to those taking part in its training courses, such as allowing for breaks in learning, reasonable adjustments for those posted overseas or to areas outside the service provision, product swapping and use of alternative assessment methods and offering flexible assessment methods for those deployed abroad.

This commitment is especially relevant in areas like Fareham, where Future Fit is Headquartered, where veterans make up one of the highest proportions of households across England and Wales, and in Portsmouth, where 37,000 people—approximately 18% of the population—are members of the armed forces community.

Through signing the Armed Forces Covenant, Future Fit Group has demonstrated its unwavering support for the military community. Through employment opportunities, flexible learning, and targeted discounts, the company is committed to fostering a supportive environment where veterans, reservists, and their families can thrive.
