Swimming referral scheme launches

An initiative allowing people with health issues to gain free swimming sessions has been launched at Newmarket and Mildenhall leisure centres in Suffolk.
The Swimming On Referral scheme, operated by Anglia Community Leisure (ACL), will see people who would benefit from being more active being prescribed free swimming sessions on referral by a medical professional.
The sessions include a one-to-one assessment at the swimming centres after which participants will receive a specifically prescribed and individually tailored aquatic programme.
Two instructors will be present on poolside at all times to offer a heightened level of supervision and support.
