Sustainable travel sought for lakes
Plans to create a sustainable transport framework for the Lake District have moved to the second stage.
The first phase included a study by consultants Steer Davies Gleave (SDG), which has now been turned into a report outlining the main transport issues for the creation of a new system within the national park.
The report recommends a range of solutions – from personal travel planning to more lake-based transport.
The report also calls for transport strategies for the Lake District to be progressive in thinking while "maintaining and enhancing" the qualities of the protected landscape.
The report will now be reviewed and considered by the Lake District National Park Authority’s Park Strategy and Vision Committee.
