Rezidor Hotels signs two Brighton properties
Rezidor Hotels has announced the signing of two hotels in Brighton.
The Brussels-based firm signed agreements to operate the Royal York Hotel and Landsdowne Place, both owned by Max Hotels, which will be rebranded as the Radisson Blue Hotel Brighton and Park Inn Brighton respectively at the end of April.
Kurt Ritter, president and CEO of Rezidor, said: “These signings underline the importance of the UK market for our company. Brighton is one of the country’s favourite destinations, we are glad to be present there.
Max Hotels’ director, David Glover, added: “I’m tremendously excited to be working with Rezidor on these two hotels and I’m extremely confident that together we can create hotels that will become leaders in the Brighton market.”
The Royal York Hotel was built in 1771 and converted into a hotel in 1819, and was used as offices from 1929 to 2003, when it was bought by its current owner. It underwent an extensive refurbishment in 2007, and now boasts 59 bedrooms, three meeting rooms and Max’s Sea Grill, a restaurant that focuses on locally caught fish and seafood.
The 84-bedroom Landsdowne Place opened in 1854 and was fully renovated in 2004. It features seven meeting rooms and the The Grill restaurant, which serves French cuisine. It also has a spa with eight treatment rooms offering ESPA treatments, a sauna, a steamroom and a gym.
