Echelon Health launches dementia assessment
Echelon Health has introduced a dementia assessment as part of its mission to detect disease at its earliest stage.
The preventative medicine clinic is located in London’s prestigious medical district on Harley street.
Having previously collaborated with Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, Echelon is known for its precision in early diagnosis of illness and causes of early death. The clinic's new dementia assessment will expand its approach to include the early detection of neurodegenerative conditions.
As the global ageing population grows and cases of dementia rise, pre-symptomatic identification of cognitive decline is being achieved by Echelon through blood tests for risk factors – such as diabetes, cholesterol, thyroid and vitamin deficiencies, plus a high definition 3T MRI brain scan, interpreted by a neuroradiologist.
After this data has been collected, clients then take part in the Addenbrooke’s Cognitive Examination – a gold-standard cognitive test with up to 97 per cent sensitivity in detecting early-stage dementia. The evaluation is conducted by Dr Aijas Khan, a consultant neurologist with more than 25 years’ experience.
Echelon can also facilitate further investigation for individuals that need this, via a specific brain imaging system capable of identifying amyloid protein deposits, a hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease.
Early detection will enable patients to access the latest disease-slowing treatments at Echelon.
The dementia assessment is available on its own or alongside the clinic’s platinum assessment – its most advanced and in-depth physical evaluation that includes imaging (CT, MRI and ultrasound scans), blood analysis, ECG readings and a full-body mole inspection.
Led by Dr Paul Jenkins, Echelon’s founder and medical expert, the centre claims this platinum assessment enables it to detect up to 92 per cent of causes of premature death in men and 95 per cent in women.
The dementia assessment is priced at £3,000 (US$3,978, €3,570). The platinum assessment is priced at £14,000 (US$18,567, €16,658).
When combined, Echelon Health says the packages offer a 360-degree into both physical and cognitive health.
