Noctis/BBPA slam music fees increase plans
Plans to increase fees for playing music at discos in pubs and nightclubs have been labelled "totally unacceptable" by Noctis and the British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA).
According to the BBPA, the proposals outlined in Phonographic Performance Ltd's (PPL) consultation document could place a huge strain on pubs and clubs across the UK. BBPA chief executive Brigid Simmonds said: "These proposed increases for playing music are unacceptable and totally off the scale."
Noctis executive chair Jon Collins added: "This is based on flawed assumptions and would make a large proportion of the country's nightclubs and late night bars simply unviable."
