North Ayrshire Leisure (NAL) has launched the first ‘K:A Campus’ at Kilwinning Academy.
The new initiative, a dual use project in partnership with North Ayrshire Council, will enable the NAL to make existing and refurbished leisure facilities at the school available for use by the local community outside school hours – and during school holidays – on a ‘pay and play’ basis, enabling more people to take part in regular physical activity.
The provision of additional sport and leisure facilities within the area was identified as a major factor in contributing towards maintaining and improving healthy lifestyles in the ‘Strategy for Physical Activity, Sport & Health in North Ayrshire’ launched in 2003.
Facilities available within K:A Campus Kilwinning include an impressive K:A Studio fitness centre for adults with top of the range Precor fitness equipment together with showers and changing facilities.
Other facilities include a three-court games hall, two gymnasiums, an assembly hall and a SHOKK fitness suite for children between the ages of 12 and 16.
The new campus facility brings the total number of KA Studio sites in North Ayrshire to five.
