Marriott opens at L.A. Live
The 878-room JW Marriott Hotel Los Angeles - a cornerstone of the city's US$2.5bn (£1.6bn, €1.84bn) L.A. LIVE sports, residential and entertainment district - has opened.
The 4m sq ft property, which plans to be LEED-certified, shares space with the 123-room Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles and The Ritz-Carlton Residences in a 54-storey tower designed by Gensler. One of the tallest mix-use buildings in downtown Los Angeles and situated opposite the Los Angeles Convention Centre, it is owned by developers Los Angeles-based AEG, and MacFarlane Partners. As well as state-of-the-art guest rooms, the hotel features 52 luxury suites and is home to L.A. Market, the signature, full-service restaurant created by celebrity chef, Kerry Simon. Further eating and drinking options are Glance, a wine bar and lounge; The Mixing Room, a classic cocktail lounge; and the Illy Coffee Bar.
Facilities available include three ballrooms, nine ancillary meeting rooms and three boardrooms. Guests also have access to The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles' 8,000sq ft (743sq m) spa on the second floor of the tower, plus the 4,000sq ft (371sq m) JW Marriott fitness centre, similarly on the second floor. L.A. LIVE itself features 13 restaurants and bars including Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill, The Farm of Beverly Hills, Rosa Mexicano, Katsuya, ESPN Zone, Flemings Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar, Rock 'N Fish and Trader Vic's.
The development also houses entertainment venues such as Club Nokia and Lucky Strike Lanes & Lounge.
