Mendip District Council and Avalon Leisure have teamed up with fruit cider-maker Brothers Drinks to warm Shepton Mallet’s lido using recyled heat from the drinks factory.
The specially built system harnesses excess heat from the factory which warms water as it passes through a system of pipes before being returned to the pool.
Studies show that Shepton’s lido will be able to generate at least 40 per cent of its heat from the system.
