Healthy eating scheme for school children piloted
Purely Nutrition – a nutritional and physical activity advisor – has devised a training scheme called Phunky Foods to teach young people about the importance of good health.
In a bid to tackle growing obesity among school children, the Phunky Foods scheme provides teachers with a 39-week programme of healthy eating and physical activity lesson plans for every year group.
The programme is currently being piloted in 55 primary schools in Leeds, Wakefield, Sheffield, York, Bradford and North Yorkshire.
If successful, the scheme will be rolled out nationwide.
Northern Foods subsidised the scheme and a team of dieticians and nutritionists designed the programme. Details: www.purelynutrition.com
