Council reveals IMAX site survey results
Four out of the seven options for the future redevelopment of the IMAX site in Bournemouth have received the "overall support" of local residents, according to the local authority.
Tropical gardens; a water park; an interactive arts, museum and entertainment scheme; and a performing arts space are among proposals backed in the Bournemouth Borough Council (BBC) survey. More than 3,500 people took part in the council research. Plans for a spa; boutiques and bistros; or a family play park did not receive much support as standalone options.
BBC's cabinet will consider the consultation results at a meeting on 28 April, with a decision set to be made on which options will be explored further as part of a feasibility study. Council leader Stephen MacLoughlin said: "We know how much people value the view, and have pledged that, whatever building we have on that site, the architecture will be sympathetic to its setting.
"Any developer will need to make sure sea views are improved and the building is one that local people and the council can be proud of."
