Floating 52 stories above London, Matrix Fitness install at the Shangri-La The Shard, London Sky Gym
Floating 52 stories above the capital, the Shangri-La The Shard, London features a luxurious wellbeing offering with spectacular views of London’s skyline. The fully equipped Sky Gym sits alongside the Sky Sauna, which offers guests an exclusive oasis, as well as the world-renowned Sky Pool, the highest hotel pool in Western Europe.
The Sky Gym refurbishment included the installation of the latest, innovative cardio and strength equipment from Matrix Fitness including items from its world-leading Endurance Touch and Touch XL Console cardio range which includes immersive features, a multitude of apps, entertainment options and a wide array of customer-focussed programmes including Sprint8, a 20-minute sprint HIIT workout, live course footage and built-in test protocols.
To provide an elite strength offering to users, the install also included items from The Ultra Series from Matrix Fitness which offers a powerful, yet comfortable experience with cutting-edge functionality and intuitive operation as well as equipment from The Versa Series which incorporates advanced biomechanics for a natural, smooth, efficient workouts experience.
On the refurbishment project, Matthew Stackhouse, hospitality, residential and corporate wellness specialist, Matrix Fitness UK explains: “This was an extremely prestigious project, and one that required the very best, not only in terms of equipment, but also in regards to design, layout and operational support, from the very first initial concept meeting right the way through to completion.
“Working alongside the team at The Shangri-La The Shard, London, in particular, Jean Louis Fresta (resident manager) and Iwona Oliwa (assistant director of engineering), we were able to bring a concept to life, transforming a relatively small footprint of space into a fresh, engaging training space with pioneering equipment to compliment the power of the breath-taking views surrounding it.”
Adding a touch of personalisation, Matrix Fitness also provided bespoke Shangri-La The Shard, London branded upholstery to the strength equipment as well as bespoke branded dumbbells. For a finishing touch, the branding has also been uploaded to the cardio machine consoles.
