Launched in 2017, GymNation’s mission is to become The People’s Gym with an ambition to make improving health and well-being by going to the gym less intimidating, more affordable, accessible, and fun for everyone in the region.

In addition to their rapid expansion, they have been widely recognized as a tech leader within the global fitness industry, by using AI to transform member experiences and streamline operations. This case study explores how GymNation partnered with LlamaIndex to rethink their business and deliver an enhanced customer experience.

The Challenge

As GymNation grew, they faced challenges in managing a large member base, personalizing experiences at scale, improving sales processes, enhancing member retention, and providing round-the-clock support.

GymNation's CTO, Karl Foster, recognized the potential of AI to address these challenges and sought a solution that could be rapidly implemented and scaled.

The Solution: AI Agents leveraging LlamaIndex

After experimenting with various options, GymNation chose LlamaIndex for its superior performance and ease of implementation. They developed a multi-agent approach using LlamaIndex's features:

RAG Query Engine: GymNation created an enterprise RAG layer with LlamaIndex for LLM context augmentation. This was leveraged by multiple agents as mentioned below.

Multi-Agent Orchestration: Implemented an orchestration framework where a master AI agent coordinates specialized agents, each responsible for specific functions.

Integration with External Tools: Utilized LlamaIndex's function calling capabilities to interact with GymNation's existing systems and APIs.

React Agents: Developed using LlamaIndex to manage different stages of the member lifecycle.

Key AI implementations include:

Albus: A web and WhatsApp chatbot trained on GymNation's data provided by the LlamaIndex RAG Layer. It assists prospects with information about membership, gym facilities and class timings. The lead data is processed into their CRM, and a voice AI agent is initiated to call and book a tour in seconds upon request. Albus also assists members with customized workout plans.

Jenny AI: A voice-enabled assistant for sales and service agents using LlamaIndex for natural language processing and integration with other tools.

Multi-Channel AI Agents: Deployed across web app, WhatsApp, email, and phone for sales and prospecting to engage with potential members and answer inquiries

AI Driven Member Onboarding Process: GymNation created an AI-driven onboarding system that gathers information about new members' goals and builds customized fitness regimens and diet plans.

75% success rate in automated tour booking (industry standard: 50%)
