Bespoke rigs for a unified gym experience at Places Leisure

29 Oct 2025
Bespoke rigs at Places Leisure / D2F Fitness
When Places Leisure sought out rigs and storage solutions that would declutter the gym floor and deliver high-performance functionality for their members, they turned to D2F for an answer. D2F designed and delivered a custom solution that solved Places Leisure’s specific challenges.

What Places Leisure needed was something compact, solid and highly functional so D2F worked to develop a purpose-built freestanding rig featuring built-in storage. Unlike most rigs, Places Leisure needed one that could function normally and safely, without being bolted to the ground, so D2F designed this custom rig with its own stabilising feet, meaning it can be moved as club layouts evolve, with no damage or disruption to the flooring. A perfect example of how D2F can engineer around real-world needs, creating totally bespoke products.

Each rig is custom built for the space, and feature pull-up bars, Olympic lifting station with squat rack and attachments like the landmine, integrated cable pulley system, and smart, accessible storage for weight plates, kettlebells, medicine balls and more. Everything has been thought through for performance and convenience, giving staff and members a versatile training experience.

John Lofting, Managing Director at D2F, said “Every space is unique, and every request is unique too. We love problem solving and coming up with solutions for our clients problems. Working with Places Leisure has been really rewarding and we’re pleased to help them offer their members the highest quality training environments.”

So far, D2F have delivered these custom rigs to around 10 Places Leisure sites, including Northumberland, Edinburgh, and the flagship Eclipse Leisure Centre, which features a double rig to meet higher capacity demands. They are currently manufacturing a further six rigs, with more clubs lined up to receive theirs over the coming months.
