Located in the city's New Deal for Communities Wood End area, the centre's facilities include a four-court sports hall, a 40 station health and fitness suite, two dance studios, meeting and training rooms, a café and crèche.
Outdoor facilities comprise a full size, floodlit synthetic turf football pitch and two multi-use games areas.
The centre will also act as a community hub, providing service such as neighbourhood management and social care.
The centre was recommended by a feasibility study, carried out by consultants PMP in 2006.
The centre is operated by Coventry Sports Trust and was designed by Roberts Limbrick.
