Wetside opens on Fraser Coast
A new water education park, Wetside, has opened in Hervey Bay on the Fraser Coast, Australia.
Developed by Wide Bay Water Corporation, the park received AUD$4.95m in funding from the state government as part of Queensland's 150th anniversary celebrations this year.
Entrance to the new park - which features a zero-depth water play attraction and an outdoor science museum featuring the properties and nature of water - is free to the public.
A spokesperson said: "This is not a water theme park. There is no pool or pond that will hold water, though water will cascade, squirt, spray, jet and bounce around for children to play within.
"This is a public facility, which will be open to the public free of charge with pay-for-use features inside as would normally be expected such as the café and a static wave machine, which cover the cost of maintenance and operation for the entire facility."
