Pub operator JD Wetherspoon has joined the fight against obesity by introducing trans-fat free cooking oil at all of its pubs.
The move will see all sites cooking with trans-fat free oil by 30 March and according to Wetherspoon, comes after scientific studies showed use of hydrogenated cooking oils that contain trans-fats increased coronary heart disease and increases the risk of diabetes.
James Robinson, Wetherspoon food development manager, said: “This is an important step by the company and highlights our commitment to preparing and serving healthy food to our customers.”
