Tees Active opens Thornaby Pavilion gym
The Active8 health and fitness club at the Thornaby Pavilion in Stockton-on-Tees, Cleveland, has opened to the public.
The 300sq m gym, funded by Tees Active, cost £500,000 to build and replaces a smaller, 18-station facility formerly at the site.
New facilities at the 70-station club include cv equipment as well as an extensive range of the latest resistance machines including chest press, lat pull down and glute machine.
A dedicated free weights area with a ‘Smith Machine’, Cable Jungle, and latest piece of resistance equipment the ‘Radiant’, has also been added.
The development of the gym is part of phase one of a three phase refurbishment of the forty year old Thornaby Pavilion.
The indoor bowling hall has been refurbished and reduced from eight to six lanes.
Steve Chaytor, managing director for Tees Active, which operates the new gym, said: “We have created a great space that will inspire people to come and achieve their health and fitness goals in a superb new environment.
“The Technogym equipment is the latest available and is designed to meet the needs of our customers. In addition we have been able to secure the long term future for our bowlers in a refurbished hall.”
Other leisure facilities at the Thornaby Pavilion include squash and badminton courts, a gymnastics hall and five-a-side football pitches.
The Pavilion also offers 25 fitness classes in dual-use fitness areas including Spinning, Pilates and Pump FX. There are facilties and activities available for everyone.
