Team GB announces 'fresh' 2012 plans
Britain's Olympic and Paralympic athletes are set to prepare for the 2012 London Games at Loughborough University under new plans confirmed by the British Olympic Association (BOA).
The Leicestershire university will provide a "central focal point" for the 26 Olympic sports ahead of the Games, after the BOA carried out a strategic reviews along with national governing bodies. A main base camp at Loughborough will be backed up by smaller 'satellite' camps in the UK and overseas, while the months leading up to the 2012 Olympics will be used by the BOA for support services.
BOA chief executive Andy Hunt said: "Our number one priority is to ensure that Team GB athletes have the best possible preparation environment immediately before the Games in 2012. "We've worked with our sports to review the best way to help them prepare for the Games, and it's clear that different sports need different facilities provided at a variety of different locations."
