Starbucks introduce wireless internet services to more UK cafes
Global café chain Starbucks and T-Mobile will be rolling out their wireless internet services, following the success of an initial UK scheme first piloted in six Starbucks stores in August 2002.
With 350 outlets in the UK alone, Starbucks has now extended its UK Hotspot internet service to give 56 stores in 21 cities and towns broadband internet access.
The high-speed service has a significantly faster speed than standard dial-up internet access and will give Starbucks customers options to check their email, access their corporate intranet, surf the net or download multi-media material
The Hotspot service can be used either with a pocket PC or notebook computer if it is equipped with an 802.11b wireless card, more commonly called a Wi-Fi.
Participating Starbucks Hotspot stores will include locations in London, Birmingham, Brighton, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Oxford, and York.
Graham Rivers, Director of Business Development for T-Mobile UK commented: “The launch demonstrates Starbucks and T-Mobile’s commitment to providing customers a fast, easy, and cost efficient service, and illustrates the continued growth and appeal of mobile working across the UK.” Details: http://www.starbucks.com
