Scottish Parliament passes alcohol minimum pricing legislation
The Scottish Government has moved closer to the introduction of a minimum price for a unit of alcohol after the country's parliament passed the Alcohol Minimum Pricing Bill.
Earlier this month, Scottish health secretary Nicola Sturgeon announced a preferred minimum price of 50p per unit as part of renewed efforts to combat alcohol misuse.
Sturgeon said: "This is a landmark moment in Scotland's fight against alcohol misuse. I am delighted that parliament has passed the bill and minimum pricing will now become law."
