SPL moves forward with new strategic plan
The Scottish Premier League (SPL) has announced that a majority of its member clubs and Scottish Football League clubs have backed its new strategic plan.
In a statement, competition administrators said no formal vote was taken at a meeting held at Hampden Park, Glasgow, on 18 April but confirmed the document had received support. It is hoped that a further SPL general meeting will take place before the end of the season in a bid to have the plan approved, with 11 out of the 12 clubs needed to vote in favour.
According to the BBC, the plan calls for a British League Cup, a 50 per cent increase in broadcasting revenues over five years and an improvement of Scotland's FIFA ranking.
