Sheffield International Venues (SIV) has opened its new £3m Fitness Unlimited gym at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield.
The 1,250sq ft (115sq m) gym boasts 130 workout stations, a dedicated spin studio and group fitness studios.
Sheffield-based architects Race Cottam worked in partnership SIV and local contractors CR Gibbs to design and build the facility.
Steve Brailey, SIV’s chief executive, said: "The significant investment in time, money and hard work that has gone into the project makes this very rewarding. Ponds Forge is a complex building and we considered many different design options before settling on this scheme. It's all been worthwhile and credit must go to the trustees of the Sheffield City Trust for taking the brave decision to back us and invest over £3million in this project."
The £3m refurbishment also included improvements to the leisure pool and its changing areas, which were completed in March, as well as new changing rooms for members.
