Rope-A-Phobia a hit with kids
Innovative Leisure has reported that the first Rope-A-Phobia attraction to be operated in Europe is proving a success.
Chris Rainbow, warden at Tolmers Scout camp site in Hertfordshire, UK, where the first Rope_A-Phobia is sited, said: “It’s proving very successful. Children from six years old and upwards are using it, as are adults, and they are enjoying the multiple challenges it provides which include climbing and a series of other obstacles.
“It’s not that high but it’s high enough when you are up there so participants think it’s going to be easy till they get up to the top. It therefore provides an exciting, nerve tingling experience with a ‘dangerous yet safe’ feel. But it’s also excellent in teaching youngsters eye to hand co-ordination, balancing skills, team training and a host of other benefits and skills.”
A Rope-A-Phobia was also introduced on a temporary basis at Chessington World of Adventures. “It gave us an interesting alternative activity and added attraction, and was certainly something different to offer, acting as an attraction to the area in which it was situated which was adjacent to our extreme games area,” said general manager Mike Vallis. “Patrons were mainly the ‘tweens,’ the nine- to 12-year-old group.”
Innovative Leisure’s managing director, Phil Pickersgill, said: “Children of a certain age, particular those from around nine to 13, enjoy physical, challenging activities and Rope-A-Phobia provides just that.
“It may not look that high from the ground but when you are up there going through the various elements it’s a different matter. Parents like it too because of the physical nature of the attraction – some even have a go themselves - and it is appealing to participants because it’s such a novel experience.
“I’m sure it will prove very popular at all kinds of venues from theme parks and activity centres to mobile events and indoor attractions.” Details: [email protected]
