Referendum for Rushden leisure centre plans
A parish referendum is set to be held on 3 December to determine the fate of plans for the construction of the new £13m Manor Park Leisure Centre in Rushden, Northamptonshire.
East Northamptonshire Council (ENC) will co-ordinate the poll on behalf of Rushden Town Council (RTC), which will ask local residents whether they support the proposals. RTC leader Colin Wright said: "A Yes vote is a vote for the future of Rushden and a fantastic new leisure facility that the town can be proud of. A No vote would be a vote for no leisure facilities at all in a few years' time when the Splash Pool and Pemberton become too expensive to maintain."
The result of the poll would not be binding on either RTC or ENC.
