Parkwood Leisure launches a weight management programme
Parkwood Leisure has launched a 12-week pilot programme designed to support individuals transitioning from medication-led to lifestyle-led weight management.
The My Healthy Weight Programme incorporates movement, nutrition and mindset and is being trialled at Crook Log Leisure Centre. If successful it will be more widely rolled out.
Costing £99 per month, the 12-week programme includes six online group nutrition workshops led by qualified experts; six online mindset and wellbeing sessions delivered by Arvra to build motivation and resilience; group workshops on balanced eating and sustainable food habits and personalised activity plans and weekly fitness sessions led by qualified personal trainers.
“We know that many people are turning to new medications to manage their weight, which can offer promising results. However, what we are seeing is that many users regain the weight post GLP-1 use,” said Katie Lupton, head of health and wellbeing at Parkwood Leisure.
“Long-term success depends on embedding physical and mental support mechanisms. This programme provides structured, evidence-informed coaching to empower individuals to make sustainable changes. If successful, we hope to expand the programme to more sites across our portfolio so more people in local communities can benefit from this support.”
While designed to support GLP-1 users, the programme is also available to adults with a BMI above 25 who are seeking sustainable weight management strategies. Healthcare professionals are invited to refer patients to the programme and individuals can also self-refer.
With a blend of in-person and digital support, the programme helps participants make realistic, lasting lifestyle changes beyond medication use.
