Olympic open day at Olympus Burgess Hill
Olympian Nick Buckfield and Paralympian Ben Quilter joined children in a range of giant games at an open day at Olympos Burgess Hill leisure centre last month.
The event, which attracted more than 500 people was hosted by the centre's operator, sports trust Freedom Leisure; Mid Sussex District Council (MSDC); Participate Mid Sussex and West Sussex-'Ahead of the Game', the county's 2012 initiative.
It was held on 26 July to coincide with the London 2012 Open Weekend.
"Participate Mid Sussex aims to get more people involved in sports, physical activity, arts, healthy lifestyles and volunteering," said MSDC Councillor Garry Wall, Cabinet member for Leisure and Sustainability.
"The Open Day at Olympos Burgess Hill was an excellent example of how the national London 2012 Open Weekend works on a local level - bringing together the very best examples of Mid Sussex sporting achievement, art and culture in a showcase aimed at encouraging active participation by local people."
