Olympic Stadium cost could jump to £400m
The price of the Olympic Stadium could jump from £280m to £400m, according to Building magazine.
The construction trade publication said that the consortium led by contractors Sir Robert McAlpine – which also includes HOK Sport – could in fact charge the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) up to £600m when the cost of infrastructure work, such as roads and a bridge, is added to that of the stadium itself.
The Team McAlpine consortium was the only bidder for the stadium that met the ODA’s pre-qualification standard, and therefore there are no rival tenders for the delivery authority to fall back on.
The ODA is expected to release its final stadium budget next month.
