Botanique Hotel and Spa, a retreat featuring one of the first 100 per cent indigenous spas in Brazil, is due to open its doors in November amid the mountains of Campos do Jordào.
The 10,000sq ft (929sq m) Spa at Botanique will house eight treatment rooms and is heavily influenced by afro-Brazilian and Native Indian treatments, as well as Brazilian dance.
An indoor pool; dry and wet saunas; and relaxation suites will also form part of the new spa, which has been developed in conjunction with consultants such as Sonia Corazza.
Corazza is a chemist who has helped design the signature spa line, while Dr Carlos Eduardo da Silva has carried out research into the native treatments and therapies to be offered.
Nicole and Jonathan Wise are the managing partners responsible for operating the hotel, with Nicole leading much of the design of the spa treatments and operation.
Botanique Hotel and Spa is owned by Fernanda and Ricardo Semler, along with a number of partners including AOL founder David Cole and The Body Shop founder Gordon Roddick.
Other facilities include the Mina restaurant serving contemporary Brazilian cuisine and wine menu; a 40-seat cinema; an outdoor swimming pool; and a stone-lined library.
Ricardo Semler said: "We are introducing a new concept of contemporary Brazilian hospitality, rescuing the authenticity of old Campos do Jordão, which was an anchor for spiritual retreats, and combining with a top-of-the-line-luxury feel."
