New probe into London 2012 job opportunities
An investigation has launched into whether enough is being done to help low-skilled and unemployed Londoners into temporary jobs created during the 2012 Games.
The London Assembly inquiry will look at the 200,000 workers needed between July and September 2012 across a range of roles, such as catering, security and cleaning. According to organisers of the 2012 Games, it is hoped that 15-20 per cent of total positions will be filled by people living in the host boroughs.
