Museums in locomotives restoration bid
Three museums in North Wales have joined forces a bid to restore two historic railway locomotives, which were among the first in the UK to run on electricity.
The Coalition and The Eclipse were put on static display at Llechwedd Slate Mines, Blaenau Ffestiniog, after being taken out of service in the 1960s. Both originally entered service in the 1890s. The two engines - converted to electric power in 1927 and 1930 - will now be moved to the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway, Porthmadog, to be kept under cover until funds can be raised for the restoration project.
The Narrow Gauge Railway Museum in Tywyn is funding the transport for the two locomotives between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Porthmadog.
