Max fitness from min effort
Suunto’s latest t6 wristop computer watch is claimed to be able to tell you how hard you should be exercising in order to gain the maximum benefit without wasting a moment’s effort.
Suitable for use whether you are walking, running, cycling, rowing or taking any other sort of exercise, the t6 incorporates a chronometer with stopwatch, lap and interval timer; altimeter, thermometer and barometer as well as a heart rate monitor.
Uniquely, the heart rate monitor measures the varying times between each heart beat, rather than taking a session average, which translates into an Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC) reading – said to be the ultimate measure of training effect.
The t6 also measures and analyses energy, oxygen and fat consumption, ventilation and respiration.
To use the system and obtain an appropriate training load, you input its software package with details of gender, age, height, weight and activity level. You then set the t6, strap on your chest-band and start exercising.
On completion, just plug the t6 into a computer to download and analyse the data. The software will provide an EPOC measurement, showing the actual effect of your exercise and the possible need to alter your regime.
