Marina planned for Droitwich Spa
Proposals to build a marina in Droitwich Spa in Worcestershire have been approved by Wychavon District Council's development control committee.
The Droitwich Spa Advertiser reported that the plans for the 238-boat marina, put forward by GJP Marina Development, were unanimously approved subject to some "small issues" being revolved by the Environment Agency.
A 6.81-hectare site north of Droitwich Rugby Club has been earmarked as the location of the marina.
The newspaper quoted councillor Pam Davey as saying: "I'm sure the problems with the Environment Agency can be overcome. This development is essential if we are going to make the most of the £11m that has been used for the canal redevelopment."
