Club Atlético de Madrid lifts lid on Sport City plans
This €800 million development will be a boost for northern Madrid
Go Fit will run the fitness element, there will also be padel, surfing and golf
Madrid City Council is providing the land for 75 years
Go Fit has been brought on board by Club Atlético de Madrid for the €800 million Sport City project
This ambitious project is a partnership between the football club and Madrid City Council to turn the north-eastern area of Madrid into an international benchmark for live entertainment.
The extensive leisure and sports complex will be sited on a 115-hectare municipal plot next to Madrid’s Cívitas Metropolitano Stadium which has been granted to the club for 75 years. Following investment from US fund, Apollo Global Management, the club is investing €200 million and the further €600 million will come from private investment.
Atlético de Madrid has made a series of strategic alliances with operators including Iberian operator, Go Fit, which will run the fitness centre; Playtomic will manage the 24-court indoor padel centre; Topgolf and Callaway will run the golf area and Wavegarden is set to develop a surf lagoon.
Live Nation Entertainment and Oak View Group will manage a concert and event schedule, López Real Inversiones 21 will look after the commercial zone and Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio will develop a university campus.
The first three plots are set to be completed between August and September 2026, with full operational capacity expected by 2028, coinciding with the completion of the concert arena and university campus.
